The lymphatic system is the circulation that clears retained fluid from the body, carries nutrients to cells and tissues and, in short, helps the body renew itself. Lymphatic drainage aims to speed up this circulation.
Why should lymph flow faster? Think of it this way: would you rather swim in a pool whose water is changed every day, or once a week? Naturally, we would choose the one refreshed daily. The lymphatic system works in a similar way: the faster it flows, the less we are exposed to waste that builds up in the body.
Lymphatic drainage is widely used as a supportive treatment for swelling after illness, for cellulite and alongside slimming programmes. The number of sessions depends on the type of treatment and the individual; when used as a support, it is planned around the main treatment. For cellulite, results can typically be seen after 10–15 sessions.
Sessions last around 20–25 minutes and are repeated every 2–3 days depending on the person.
Your concerns, health and goals are reviewed.
